14. Funeral of Andrzej Werner

It was a great shock for us to learn about the tragic event of Mr. Andrzej Werner death.
He lost his life while crossing a street in Warsaw.

Over two hundred people attended the funeral ceremony at the Powazki Cemetery on the
November 8.

His grave is not far away from the family tomb of Jan Bloch. As you will remember
Andrzej Werner was the founder of the Jan Bloch Society. Its members were present
in large numbers (see photos below).

Mr Piontek, Professor of Law and Andrzej Werner`s schoolmate made a speach at the grave.

Andrzej Werner`s family and friends, the Jan Bloch Society and the Polish Banks Association all joined in expressing their heartfelt sorrow. Andrzej werner`s life and work were mentioned in numerous press abituaries. Condolescences arrived also from abroad, from prof. Peter van den Dungen, co-founder of the Jan Bloch Society, Andrew Kostanecki and Shaul Stampfer from Israel.

Some of Jan Bloch enthusiasts who attended the funeral need to be mentioned. They are:  (appearing in the photos)
